Currently based in New York, Leah Gutman got her musical start in Boston, MA. Being surrounded her whole life by Boston’s rich musical climate, Leah’s childhood was dedicated to music. From the age of five, Leah’s time was devoted to learning violin, and teaching herself various instruments like guitar and bass. Leah’s musicianship has taken her to far places like Norway with NEC’s Youth Philharmonic orchestra, to the Schulich School at McGill University, and locally to Symphony Hall.
After deciding to study contemporary music, Leah flew back home to finish a degree in Music Production and Engineering with a minor in Electronics and Acoustics at the Berklee College of Music. Due to influences like Radiohead, Rachmaninoff, and more, she specializes in working on genres like pop, rock, punk, classical, and more. Leah has expertise in post production, audio editing, live sound, mixing, and music production. While at Berklee, Leah assisted local Boston music legend David Minehan at Woolly Mammoth Sound. Since moving to New York, Leah has had the privilege of working in renowned studios such as Studio G.
Leah has worked with acts like Sorry Mom, Sweet Petunia, Bald By Choice, and more. In her experience with working on her own music and with others, Leah strongly believes in prioritizing artists’ expressive instincts and uses her trained ear to record with intent. It is Leah’s goal to propel artists through shared musicality to give them the power to share their personal experiences through collaboration.
